Thanks to its proximity to Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region, the Taunus is a varied and popular local area for outdoor pursuits. Wild forests, deeply carved valleys, high mountain ridges and peaks with fantastic views are just a few of the features that will make your hiking heart beat faster. In this Collection, we present 12 hiking Tours which show you the Taunus in all its diversity. On the one hand, you'll roam through the wild forests and be able to spot fascinating wildlife, while on the other hand, places such as the Roman fort of Saalburg or the Limes invite you deep into history. The hikes are between 4 and 30 kilometres (2.5–18.6 mi) long and have different levels of difficulty. There are both family-friendly trails where you can discover exciting and interesting places for everyone, and Tours with challenging climbs to get your pulse racing. As a reward for your efforts, spectacular views of the Taunus await. Thanks to their proximity to the Rhine-Main metropolitan region, most of the Tours have very good bus and train connections. You can easily leave your car at home if you don't mind walking an extra metre or two. On the way, you'll come across plenty of places where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine. The Taunus is a region rich in nature as well as culture, making it perfect for hiking. So pack your rucksack, lace up your hiking boots and set off! This beautiful low mountain range is waiting.
